Moral injury workshops are normally 2-3 hours long and can be delivered in-person or through virtual platforms. They are designed to give your members new knowledge and skills on very specific subjects. These programs are based on the adult learning model and include content delivery, Q&A, and practical exercises.

Guiding Light: Supporting Moral Injury Recovery Through Spiritual Care
This 12-hour program provides essential tools and methods for supporting individuals dealing with moral injury, emphasizing inner peace and healing through spiritual care practices.
Participants will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of moral injury, apply spiritual assessment techniques, integrate forgiveness and compassion into interventions, and develop personal resilience. Attendees will receive comprehensive materials, including a digital manual, slide deck, and the book “Moral Injury: A Guidebook for Military Leaders,” all for an inclusive price of $50.
By the end of this training, chaplains will be able to:
- Define and Understand: Define moral injury from a spiritual perspective.
- Recognize: Identify the signs and symptoms of moral injury in themselves and others.
- Apply: Use spiritual assessment techniques to provide compassionate care.
- Integrate: Incorporate practices of forgiveness, compassion, and inner peace into chaplaincy interventions.

The Healing Path Project: Advanced Trauma-Informed Training for Licensed Counselors
The Healing Path Project: Advanced Trauma-Informed Training for Licensed Counselors is a specialized professional development series meticulously designed for licensed counselors, offering in-depth education on mental trauma, including moral injury (MI), adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), complex trauma, and PTSD. This program delves into the sources and neurobiological impact of trauma, equipping participants with advanced strategies for assessment, intervention (including modalities like EMDR and Play Therapy), and prevention, while also addressing critical aspects such as cultural competence, crisis response, and the essential need for counselor self-care to mitigate secondary traumatic stress.

This comprehensive three-hour continuing education program is designed to equip licensed counselors with an in-depth
understanding of moral injury, a complex psychological impact that extends beyond military populations to various professional and life contexts. The first hour offers a detailed exploration of moral injury, including its definition, symptoms, and the range of experiences across different disciplines that can lead to this condition. The remaining two hours focus on practical, evidence-based counseling techniques and therapeutic interventions to support clients suffering from moral injury.

- Describe the concept of moral injury, including its symptoms, potential causes across various disciplines, and protective factors that can mitigate its impact.
- Identify diverse experiences and situations outside of military contexts that can lead to moral injury in clients from various backgrounds and professions.

Military Families and Trauma: Essential Strategies for Counselors.
This is a specialized training designed for licensed counselors seeking to enhance their understanding and skills in addressing trauma among children from military families. This impactful 3-hour session provides mental health professionals with a deep dive into the unique challenges faced by military children, highlighting how trauma manifests and how to effectively support their emotional and psychological recovery.

This 3-hour training is designed for licensed counselors to explore the complex intersections of grief, loss, and moral injury.
Participants will deepen their understanding of moral injury’s unique impact on emotional, spiritual, and moral well-being, and learn effective strategies to support clients through healing and moral recovery. The session also emphasizes self-care and ethical practices for counselors working with affected populations, fostering resilience and compassion in both clients and practitioners.
Learning Objective:
- Define moral injury and identify its specific impacts on emotional, moral, and spiritual well-being, particularly in relation to grief and loss.
- Describe at least one new contemporary framework for addressing grief associated with military-related trauma, including fostering moral resilience and facilitating meaning-making.
- Recognize the importance of self-care and ethical considerations when working with clients experiencing moral injury, and will identify resources and techniques to support both clients and themselves in the healing process.

From Moral Wounds to Resilient Souls: Fostering Growth After Moral Injury
This training equips licensed counselors with the insights and skills to understand moral injury and facilitate post-traumatic growth and resilience. Through a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical approaches, participants will learn how to guide clients toward healing, meaning-making, and strength beyond trauma, ultimately supporting lasting recovery and personal transformation.

Gina Hernandez, MA, LPC, CCTP
Gina Hernandez, MA, LPC, CCTP has more than 20 years of experience working with children and families. Gina has a BA in Communications, an MA in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor certified to provide therapy in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Florida.
Gina runs a private practice where she uses EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and several other modalities focusing mainly on supporting survivors of trauma.

Dr. Daniel L. Roberts is a distinguished leader in the field of mental health and veteran care, serving as the President and CEO of the Moral Injury Support Network for Servicewomen, Inc.
